Bellini: Norma 2001 Blu-ray
The production of Bellini's famous masterpiece Norma from 2001 in the Teatro Regio in Parma was something special in many ways. The tragic opera, whose action plays in Gallia at the time of the Roman crew, was staged by Italian director and filmmaker Roberto And?, and is occupied with international stars such as American sopranist June Anderson, Mezzospranist Daniela Barcellona and Russian bass Ildar Abdrazakov. June Anderson has long been one of the leading sopranoists of the Belcanto and, of course, meets the claim of their role of Norma in the present performance. The game is considered one of the heaviest roles of the Belcanto fan who only a few singers could mastered bravourously in the numerous performances. In addition, there was an unusual musical innovation, which was enthusiastically recorded by audience and criticism: Conductor Fabio Biondi and his ensemble Europa Galante brightened the musical structures of this popular opera through their velvety and transparent play. The softer tone of the historical instruments allowed a wonderfully coordinated ratio of singers and orchestras, which brought out the exquisite voices even more. This is particularly noticeable in the famous Casta Diva Arie; June Anderson's lyrical soprano shines bright and wonderfully movable.
