「英國皇家芭蕾(The Royal Ballet)」是個聞名國際的芭蕾舞團，隸屬於英國倫敦柯芬園區的皇家歌劇院，是英國最重要、規模也最大的舞蹈公司，也是全球芭蕾界公認的三大芭蕾舞團之一。1931年，出身愛爾蘭的編舞大師萳內特．德．瓦蘿絲女爵，一手創立了皇家芭蕾舞團前身Vic-Wells Ballet；瓦蘿絲女爵曾擔任狄亞吉雷夫的俄羅斯芭蕾舞團的舞者，感歎於英國沒有自己的芭蕾養成教育，以及獨立的舞蹈機構，因而成立；女爵更有英國芭蕾教母的雅號。1946年舞團被納入皇家歌劇院旗下，便冠上皇家(Roral)的頭銜。本片是現任英國皇家芭蕾首席編舞大師為舞團編寫的三部重要大作：「色飽和度」、「在?下」及「微刺激」.
