A gorgeous mixed programme from The Royal Ballet with contrasting works by two of the world's greatest choreographers, Jerome Robbins and George Balanchine, and two Royal Ballet home-grown talents: Artist in Residence Liam Scarlett and Principal Guest Artist Carlos Acosta. Scarlett's sensual and energizing Viscera begins the programme; Afternoon of a Faun is Robbins's exquisite response to Debussy's langorous Pr?lude ? l'apr?s-midi d'un faune; Tchaikovsky Pas de deux is a bravura showpiece illustrating in miniature Balanchine's neoclassical style; and Acosta's Carmen, in which he also dances Don Jos? in his farewell performance with The Royal Ballet, is a searingly dramatic reinterpretation of a timeless favourite.
