TURANDOT is the last and unfinished work by Giacomo Puccini (1858 - 1924).
At the heart of the action is a murderous guessing game: The Chinese princess Turandot confronts all applicants for her hand stop, three puzzles. Those who cannot solve this will be made a head shorter.
Many noble candidates have tried - and just as many have not survived. Prince Kalaf has also fallen under Turandot's spell and takes on the life-threatening task. But this time the cruel game takes a surprising turn and love triumphs.
The TURANDOT production on this UHD was recorded in the Torre del Lago amphitheater. The main roles are played by Rudy Park, Rebecca Lokar and Francesca Capelletti. The conductor of the orchestra is Jacopo Sipari di Pescasseroli.
